Nottely Lake

Near Atlanta and Chattanooga

In Union County, following the damming of the Nottely River, Nottely Lake was created. Nearly 4,200 acres in size, Nottely Lake has more than 100 kilometers of shoreline. The bulk of the shoreline remains undeveloped since the United States Forest Service has conserved 70% of it.

A convenient location for locals, this lake is less than two hours from both Chattanooga and Atlanta.

Renowned For Its Hiking and Fishing

The Chattahoochee National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest encircle Nottely Lake completely. There are several enjoyable outdoor things to do, surrounded by what seems like infinite acres of nature.

Action sports enthusiasts may drive their four-wheelers, dirtbikes, or ATVs to the Davenport Mountain OHV Trails, which are situated just west of the lake, for trailing and mudding.

Scuba diving is another well-liked pastime at the lake. There is a legend that claims you may find the ruins of a drowned city if you dive to the bottom of the lake.

Are you more into fishing? The abundance of fish in this lake, including bass, walleye, and rainbow trout, draws anglers from all around. To ensure stable population levels, the state of Georgia regularly replenishes the water.
